We at Ericsson Packet Core, are currently looking for a software developer to work with one of Ericsson's industry-leading product that is a part of 4G and 5G-networks. We use Cloud Native technologies and tools to develop our 4G and 5G products on a container based micro-service architecture. To be able to utilize the cloud technology and build a product with cloud native attributes in the best possible way we need to strengthen our components development, which is used by network functions (NF) in the Cloud Packet Core system.
We stand at the forefront of Agile software development, using methods and principles like Lean and Scrum to create a product that excels. Early customer and stakeholder feedback is a key element in our development process which is based on Continuous Integration SW practices. We rely on team collective responsibility to complete all tasks according to a prioritized backlog.
To expand our organization’s capacity, we are looking for ambitious, intelligent, creative and inspiring individuals to join us. We provide a fun and challenging environment where you can grow and help to inspire your colleagues to further growth. Responsibilities & Tasks
Our teams are cross-functional, self-organizing and highly independent. You’ll be working directly with your Product Owner and stakeholders in a collaborative manner. This requires maturity and a ‘team first’ approach, which we believe is the best way to create great software. The team consists of 5-7 developers and are responsible for design, implement and test the feature, product and system from requirements to production and commercial deployment.
Most of our product code is written in C/C++ and Erlang and we use Linux as OS. We use CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Development) flow and philosophy, with pipelines designed for as-a-Service and to enable DevOps, with fast feedback loops. We believe in test driven development (TDD) and therefor competence in test case development and execution is valuable for this position.
Our product, tools and infrastructure include high-performance application development, low latency requirements, multi-threaded/multi-process troubleshooting, and embedded system development in an environment with huge amounts of data.
Among other things, Unit/Component Test, Refactoring and Continuous Delivery are defining concepts and we are constantly improving our ways of working. We are not perfect and not afraid to say so. We are on a journey and we know we have many problems to solve and we need to learn new things on the way. We believe in trying new things that suits your team, e.g.:
- Software Craftsmanship
- Reserved time for improvements and innovations
- Katas, Coding Dojos
- Knowledge sharing from external channels
Technologies we use
To understand our product, knowledge of modern web applications running in cloud native environments is essential. Most of our product code is written in C/C++ and Erlang. Our applications run in cloud native environments with the help of tools such as Kubernetes, Docker and Helm. Test frameworks uses also other languages such as Python, Go, Java and TTCN. Active involvement in the open source community is a plus.
- MSc/BSc level in Computer Science or the equivalent level of knowledge.
- Data communication and networking (Cloud networking, Container networking, Private/Public Clouds)
- Experience in agile software development practices
- Experience in Test driven development (TDD).
- Fluent in English, written and verbal.
- You are passionate about what you do which is obvious from your actions
- You have a talent for software development and computer systems. Your love to discuss software development and are comfortable about sharing this knowledge
- You are continuously developing your knowledge through experience, as well as reading and experimentation
- You love troubleshooting and digging into complex problems where it is not evident what causes the failed checkpoints or other symptoms you see
- You take pride in understanding the whole product and its environment
- Software is more than just a job for you
Do you recognize yourself and want to join a great team? Please send us your application written in English as soon as possible.
Please note we cannot accept applications via e-mail.
The process will be ongoing and we will let you know as soon as we can if you move forward.
