Master thesis project: A systematic mapping study on use of AI to implement safety using cellular networks

The use of AI algorithms is increased a lot in different domains like automotive, health care, manufacturing, etc. Usually these algorithms are trained in the cloud and even executed from there. Cellular networks play a vital role there. We would like to perform a detailed study on this topic. The purpose is to first summarize the recent publication trends (like year, publication venues, representation of academia and industry, and active research institutes) and secondly to identify current research gaps in the field. Especially, we like to get the answers of questions like which algorithms are used, in which domain they are used, and which communication protocols are used in this.
The thesis work is offered by Ericsson, conducted under joint supervision (MDH/KTH/Uppsala and Ericsson) and the results will be reported back to Ericsson.
This thesis is suitable for 1 student. The thesis would involve the following steps:
Step 1: Research questions
Step 2: Identification of Search String and Source Selection and Study Selection Criteria
Step 3: Data Mapping
Step 4: Results Analysis
We are looking for an open-minded student who seek a challenging research work with the freedom to propose and develop your own ideas. To be successful in this thesis work the candidate(s) would need the following:
- MSc studies in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, Electrical and Computer Engineering or similar area.
- Like to read and understand research articles
- Good skills in data analysis and writing the analysis results
- Good knowledge of concepts in Machine learning, AI, etc.
- Knowledge of how to perform a systematic mapping study in a bonus
- Be fluent in English.
