Researcher in Radio Network Performance

Job Description

Date: Nov 17, 2019

Job Summary:

Are you passionate about technology and love inventing new things? We are looking for a highly skilled, motivated and self-driven researcher to join our world-leading radio research department in Luleå, to develop cutting edge technology for future radio networks.
Within Ericsson Research, Research Area Radio is responsible for inventing and evaluating advanced radio network concepts and solutions targeting academic publications, standardization, regulation and product development.
As a Researcher within the Radio department, you will be part of investigating concepts and solutions for future radio access technologies including techniques such as Massive-MIMO, spectrum sharing, network coordination and applied machine learning. You will also be part of the continuous development and improvement work of existing standards, such as 5G NR.
Using simulation tools as means of evaluation is a natural part of the work. Previous experience from stochastic modeling and radio network simulator development is meriting. Understanding the interaction between link and system performance, to ensure that proposed access solutions are enabling efficient overall performance is highly relevant. Furthermore, understanding spectrum and hardware possibilities or limitations, based on today’s and tomorrow’s technologies is important. Over time our staff will work with model and simulator tool development, simulations, concept design and standardization. A wide range of additional opportunities, such as testbed implementation and field performance tasks, exist as well. This approach enables each researcher to develop a truly broad competence and a holistic view. The work is performed in projects that may incorporate internal and external research collaborations.

To fully master the complexity of modern radio networks a mix of competences from different technical domains is needed. We are interested in applicants with a background in the areas of digital communication, signal processing, information theory, computer science, AI, mathematics and physics.
