Overview of PDG Gateway
Every time you use an app on your smartphone or use Mobile Broadband Internet there is a big possibility that you get in contact with our equipment. PDU Packet Core at Lindholmen develops Mobile Core Network products for functionality in the borderland between the IP-network and the Radio Access Network. Typical functions are activation/deactivation of IP connection, mobility, access services with customized QoS, charging and policy adherence.
As part of the PDG Gateway, the PGW Session & Mobility Area is mainly focused on providing activation/deactivation of IP connections, mobility and access services functionality. In Lindholmen it consists of four cross-functional development teams (XFTs) with two Operative Product Owners. Apart from Lindholmen, there are also operations in Shanghai (China) and in Chennai (India).
Master Thesis
Today the capacity is verified late in system test, giving long feedback loops. It is also run on scarce and specialized HW. It would be a big gain if we could verify capacity very early in the development process.
The thesis is to develop a method for measuring and evaluating capacity using components test, and to correlate the result using our system test. Identify and measure characteristics that can estimate the real capacity in order to detect system bottlenecks.
