Goal with Master Thesis

The 5G power system requires a high reliability to be able to support different internet of things applications. The interaction between power converters in a power-electronic-based power system is a factor that may impact on system performance. Therefore, when integrating the AC/DC and DC/DC converters into a power system, the interaction of those converters will be further investigated.

This thesis work aims to analyze the interaction between the AC/DC and DC/DC converter of 5G power system at -48VDC bus for additional learning in this area.


Master Thesis in Short

Study the basis of -48VDC power system used for 5G.
Develop analytical small-signal impedance model of the AC/DC and DC/DC converter in 5G power system.
Verify the impedance model by both simulation and lab test result.
Analyze the interaction between the AC/DC and DC/DC converter of 5G power system at -48VDC bus.
Make design guidelines for integrating converters based on the interaction analysis.
Note: the AC/DC and DC/DC converter (including parameters for simulation), as well as test equipment, will be provided by Ericsson.


Working Methods

Literature study, theoretical analysis, simulation and lab test. 



Education: Master within Electrical Engineering or similar
Good knowledge in power electronics, classical control theory, simulation and lab work
English skills, both oral and written
Suitable for 1-2 students
