Who we are
Embedded Power at Lindholmen develops Power products for most of the Ericsson ICT product portfolio including 5G. By writing detailed specifications, Embedded Power uses external suppliers for design and manufacturing (Black Box development) of custom-made power solutions. The range of products goes from AC and/or DC driven converters/inverters, power distribution units to Lithium battery products and optimized chargers for those. The products are intended for global use and operate from 100 W to power systems up to 20 kW. The power systems are the engine of the telecom infrastructure and a prerequisite for the Networked Society.
Goal with master thesis
Some markets require AC power installations to use all 3-phases and perform phase balance of the load. Dependent if the end load is common or the load is different for each AC phase there are different main solutions to obtain a sufficient phase balance. This technology area needs to be investigated and Ericsson is looking to find implementational solutions to choose between. The market and regulatory requirements are also of interest to investigate further.
On a top-level following should be covered in the Master Thesis.
1. Find, describe and judge power products for/solutions of:
Separate balancing equipment on the primary side (balancing box)
Fully integrated 3-phase converter technique/topology
Control/regulation of three separate one-phase converters (with common output system voltage)
2. 3-phase balancing requirement(s) investigation/proposal with respect to different national/market needs, industry standards etc.
3. Business Intelligence; What is the industry standard implementations/solution(s)? Which 3pp solutions exist today?

Education: Master within Electrical engineering, Engineering Physics or similar.
