Why is Ericsson a good place to work
Ericsson enables communications service providers to capture the full value of connectivity. The company’s portfolio spans Networks, Digital Services, Managed Services, and Emerging Business and is designed to help our customers go digital, increase efficiency, find new revenue streams, and create new user experiences. Ericsson’s investments in innovation have delivered the benefits of telephony and mobile broadband to billions of people around the world ensuring our solutions – and our customers – are at the forefront of innovation. We support networks that connect more than 2.5 billion subscribers. With close to 100,000 employees and customers in 180 countries, we combine global scale with technology and service leadership. 40 percent of the world’s mobile traffic is carried over an Ericsson network. And, our Technology for Good and Connect to Learn programs include creating technology that makes it easier to save lives, feed societies, bring technology to emerging markets and connectivity to remote areas, and grow businesses and prosperity.
At Ericsson, we give our employees the freedom to think big and navigate their career, on a global scale. We create technology that helps others, from helping people enjoy their favourite content to helping people recover from natural disasters by enabling better communications between rescue workers. Your ideas and innovations can turn into achievements that impact society and change the world, creating new connections, new possibilities, and new capabilities. We find that Ericsson is at its best when we bring together the diverse skills of our people. Working across business areas, across cultures, across geographical borders, across technical disciplines. More often than not, across ground-breaking solutions. Next generation technology can be staggeringly complex. But the simpler it is to use; the more people benefit from it. Join us and help build technology that makes it simple to connect with information, business, societies, and each other.
Ericsson Research develops new communication solutions and standards. The organization has responsibility to provide Ericsson with world-class system concepts, technology innovations, and methodology. Rapidly increasing demands for mobile broadband access in combination with needs for new technology and solutions for scenarios motivated by the ongoing transformation of society into a society where everything that benefits from being connected will be connected creates challenging and exciting opportunities for our organization. Building on our experience from real network operations, profound knowledge about existing standards, and forward-looking research, we invent and master advanced concepts and solutions that shape today’s and tomorrow’s mobile radio communication.
Within Ericsson Research, Research Area Radio is responsible for providing advanced system and signal processing concepts and solutions, including antenna concepts and solutions, targeting standardization of radio access systems as well as implementation in network nodes and in user or machine terminals. As Researcher within the Radio department, you will be part of investigating and evaluating concepts and solutions for future radio access technologies and standards. You will also be part of the continuous development and improvement work of existing standards, such as NR. Mastering physical layer techniques is key (multiple access technologies, modulation, spectrum regulations, channel coding, parameter estimation, multi-antenna transmitter and receiver algorithms, etc.). Using simulation tools as means of evaluation is natural part of the work. Understanding the interaction between link and system performance, to ensure that proposed access solutions are enabling efficient overall performance is also crucial. Furthermore, understanding hardware possibilities and limitations, based on today’s and tomorrow’s technologies is important. Over time our staff will work with algorithm design, model and simulator tool development, simulations, concept design and standardization. A wide range of additional opportunities, such as testbed implementation and field performance tasks, exist as well. This approach enables each researcher to develop a truly broad competence and a holistic view. The work is performed in projects that may incorporate internal and external research collaborations.
The available Researcher positions will strengthen our 5G research on physical layer and communication concepts for, e.g. mobile broadband and machine type communication. It could also include standardization of the above-mentioned areas.
