Using machine learning to identify and flag product quality issues
At Ericsson Packet Core we’re developing 4G and 5G core network products. With us, you’ll be part of the development of mobile connectivity, enabling all the mobile internet services we use daily. We enable millions of simultaneous connected mobile users and IoT devices, handling huge amounts of data at Gbit speeds. Our products are deployed in the cloud using VMs and containers.
We are now hiring software developers, and are also looking for students interested in doing their Master's Thesis with us.
An important measure of product quality is the trouble reports raised by customers and internal testers. When the inflow of reports or the number of open issues goes above a pre-defined threshold, actions are triggered. The goal of this master thesis is to replace the current manual analysis and static thresholds with a dynamic monitoring system which can consider multiple data sources and raise warnings when values deviate from within normal ranges. The normal ranges should be based on past statistics/performance and adapt to changing realities. Input data includes (but is not limited to) trouble report statistics, SW deployment statistics, and release statistics.
You are expected to bring your knowledge about statistics, machine learning and visualization of data. Through analysis of existing data and experimental application, you will determine if the existing monitoring system can be improved and eventually replaced. The ideal outcome would include a system ready for use in our development.
We will support you throughout the thesis, and you'll have access Ericsson's tools and expertise. We hope that a well-executed thesis will be the start of a long relationship between you and Ericsson.
This is a on-site project, which excludes distance working.
