Introduction to PDU Packet Core, VNS and MANO:
PDU Packet Core is a global R&D unit responsible for delivering products and solutions for 4G/5G mobile communications.
The virtualized Packet Core portfolio addresses needs from traditional large scale mobile broadband and communication services down to specialized small-scale solutions designed for vertical and enterprise solutions on a single server. Virtual Network Services, VNS are solutions based on virtualized Network Functions, VNFs. There are unique VNSs for different target segments, Internet of Things, Mobile Broadband, Enterprise, etc.
MANO (management and orchestration) is a ETSI defined framework for the management and orchestration of all resources in the cloud data center. This includes computing, networking, storage, and virtual machine (VM) resources. The main focus of MANO is to allow flexible on-boarding and ease the deployment of network components. VNF-M (VNF manager) is the node to orchestrate VNFs.
Our main responsibility is to design and develop VNF-M for Packet Core VNF and VNS, on top of different cloud platforms, i.e. OpenStack and VMware. With workflows installed, VNF-Mr can be used to orchestrate the Packet Core nodes or networks.
