1.2 Job Summary
The main role of the Solution Architect in this position will be to work on IMS and VoLTE solutions/designs including virtualization of all nodes on various hardware solutions (COTS –e.g. Dell, HP, CISCO and Ericsson proprietary – e.g.HDS8000 & BSP 8100), having specific expertise to manage the design and onboarding/troubleshooting of IMS VNFs into a customer NFVi environment. Expertise and experience of this in the VMWARE Suite (ESX, NSX, vCenter) and/or Openstack is mandatory. The ability to deep dive including hands-on analysis is essential.
This is a delivery focused role (~70-80% of activity), however the Solution Architect will work across the complete sales and delivery cycle from creation of initial demand, through refinement of the proposition, to deployment/delivery of the final solution.

The Solution Architect is expected to be able to understand and gather customer requirements, scope solutions and manage the solution and design into delivery across Software, Hardware and Services.
The Solution Architect is the Customer facing technical design SPOC required to secure and manage the technical customer interface, technically coordinating the resources involved (accountable for the detailed solutioning, dimensioning and compliance statements, High Level Design (HLD), Low Level Design (LLD) etc.
An example of this role would be to develop and deliver IMS VNF solution & design, requiring in-depth analysis of NFVi requirements, feature/capability mapping, dimensioning, performance assurance etc. as well as overseeing the end to end solution requiring coordination of other domain experts from TCC or OSS/BSS. The Solution Architect would be technically responsible for driving all discussions with the customer’s design team and heavily engaged during delivery in the detailed design and HLD/LLD preparation as well as providing design support throughout the delivery execution.
While this is undoubtedly a highly technical role, what differentiates a high performer will be the soft skills required to win over the customer, account and virtual teams including the ability to demonstrate behaviours relating to leadership, self-awareness, self-regulation, social skills, empathy, and motivation.
1.3 Responsibilities & Tasks
Technical SPOC for IMS VNF introduction in NFVi environments.
SME on Hypervisors (VMWARE Suite (ESX, NSX, vCenter) and Openstack)
SME for onboarding UDM VNFs into customer NFVi environments
SME for IMS E2E design (HLD/LLD)
SME for troubleshooting issues with VNF interworking with NFVi.
Provisioning design for subscribers with non-sim and e-sim devices
IMS charging design
Design for scale up and scale out of vIMS VNFs.
Drive the solution and design resources and provide leadership to other technical Subject Matter Experts (SME).
Managing the solution during delivery including managing customer expectations according to original requirements.
Gathering detailed customer requirements to develop into customer solutions and designs (HLD/LLD).
Responding to customer RFPs incorporating Solutions Descriptions, Dimensioning
Lead Customer presentations and technical workshops.
Responding to customer technical questions and managing the technical agenda.
Analysing the impact of and feasibility of change requests
Ensuring customer satisfaction with the solution during delivery and handover.
Provide feedback to R&D
Participate in knowledge transfer, documentation & information sharing
1.4 Position Qualifications: Core Competences:
Deep knowledge and experience in design and implementation of IMS VNFs.
Deep knowledge and experience in Hypervisors, particularly VMware.
Extensive experience and expertise of onboarding and troubleshooting Telco VNFs onto a VMware or Openstack environment.
Specific Expertise in VMware vCloud Director (vCD) and optionally other deployment, automation and management software for virtual infrastructure resources.
Broad knowledge and experience in designing and deploying NFVi solutions

1.5 Minimum Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Electronics, IT or equivalent.
Relevant (minimum 10 years) experience in presales activities/delivery.
Masters degree preferred
