Our company, a standout performer within the Information, Communication & Technology industry, is seeking a highly-skilled, business-minded, experienced People Function Head. As Head of People Japan, you will be leading and delivering the People programs to enable sustainable business success, as well as advising on a wide range of day-to-day human resources operations in Ericsson Japan legal entity.

This position is primarily based on Yokohama, Japan. It is also a leadership team member of Ericsson Market Area North East Asia (MNEA) People function, which will offer you a platform to work with a broader scope and gain regional experiences.

 

Key scope this opportunity will offer you:

  • Contribute to the business strategy by helping your leaders identify, prioritize and build organizational capabilities, wanted behaviors, organizational structures, and people related processes.
  • Provide professional advice and predictive analytics to guide business leaders through changes needed for people and organizations. 
  • Identify needs, help to develop solutions, and execute programs in Japan that drive employee engagement, culture transformation, talent retention, diversity and inclusion.
  • Promote and oversee key processes in performance management, talent acquisition and development and total rewards in Japan.
  • Partner with our leaders by providing consultation, guidance, metrics, support, and development to increase the effectiveness of the organization.
  • As a member of MNEA People Function Leadership Team, collectively and collaboratively drive regional and global initiatives in strong partnership with Subject Matter Experts teams (Total Rewards, People Planning, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition and Development) to deploy solutions directly in Japan.

 

Skills, knowledge and experience to make you successful:

  • Seasoned HR professional with knowledge of HR practices, principles, and procedures based on working closely with colleagues across the HR function and internal partners (SME/COEs, Finance, etc.). Deep knowledge and expertise in local labor laws and regulations are very valuable as the legal HR responsible for any people matters in Japan.
  • Strategic and critical thinker to connect business challenges and people strategy. Broad and detailed understanding of talent and competency needs of the organization and where gaps currently exist.
  • Changemaker to embrace and drive culture transformation and demonstrate business impact in a fast-paced work environment
  • Talent focused on engaging talents of the organization through championing a culture of recognition and empowerment.
  • Strong Execution ability to take fact-based courageous and ethical decisions on business-critical matters and prioritization and execute them seamlessly and speedily, delivering results in a timely manner
  • Influencing and Consultative to connect with people on many levels, create strong relationships and influence throughout the organization. 
  • Open minded and supportive to new ways of working, focusing on addressing the intent and needs of the organization, generating new ideas and looking for ways to drive continuous improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication, presentation and facilitation skills. Cultural sensitivity and awareness for optimizing the effectiveness of various initiatives.
  • A track record of results, problem-solving, and accountability in a highly matrixed organization, guide and lead the team to get the great of every team member. Proactively engage and empathetically collaborate with wider People function.
  • Collaborative co-creator and co-ownership to oversee broader perspectives and achieve the common goal.
  • Fluent in Japanese and English.
  • Preferably 15+ years’ experience in HR related fields, 5 years experience as a country HR director in Japan.
