Our Exciting Opportunity:

Ericsson Australia is growing! As a result, we are now looking for an Audio Description Voicer to write and record scripts for Audio Description (AD) across a broad range of TV and film output, and to assist in the delivery of Red Bee Media’s Audio Description service.

Audio Description is a second soundtrack which describes onscreen action, locations and characters and is interwoven with the program dialogue, music and sound effects to assist the visually impaired audience

 

In this role, you would:

  • Write and record AD scripts for a wide variety of program material that meets Red Bee Media's standards of accuracy, faithfulness, access and style as specified in audio description guidelines.
  • Contribute ideas on editorial practice during group discussions and program reviews.
  • Gain a clear understanding of the program material and, where necessary, to check factual detail and editorial accuracy.
  • Watch or read fellow scripters’ and voicers' work and give feedback.
  • Work with and support the person recording the Audio Description to ensure that achieves the best end product.
  • Understand and implement the requirements on audio levels for any AD recording
  • Explain audio description to production teams and gain their support in the preparation of described program.
  • Operate a variety of technical equipment, to ensure the preparation and delivery of audio-description scripts and voiced files.
  • Support the Audio Description Production Management team in planning for new audio-described output.
  • collaborate with colleagues across Access Services to ensure the meeting of objectives
  • assist with the training and reviewing of new scripters and voicers in the AD team
  • This role involves working with the local AD team in Australia and the wider Red Bee AD team in the UK.

 

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Excellent standard of English and the ability to convey complex ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience of working in a rapidly changing environment requiring a flexible and ‘can do’ attitude at all times.
  • Experience of working flexibly and adapting to new technology when required.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Experience of applying effective time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience of taking initiative and responsibility for the quality and delivery of your own and others’ workload.
  • An understanding of the difficulties vision-impaired people face when watching television.
  • A curiosity about, and a wide knowledge of, a range of television output and an awareness of ongoing developments in the broadcasting industry
