About this opportunity

We are the Transport team within Market Unit North America. We design transport solutions and provide implementation support to North American telecom operators. We are currently seeking a Network Engineer who will perform the role of a Transport Engineer.


As a Transport Engineer, you will support customers in providing transport solutions and work at time in live networks. You will gain familiarity with the Ericsson Transport products (SW and HW) through Lab testing, as well as with the product acceptance process for our large customers in North America. You will be exposed to the latest transport products that will be rolled out in our biggest customer networks. The goal is to provide our customers with the latest transport products. As part of your work, you will be interacting with various Ericsson organizations such as development unit, customer units, and directly with the customers.


What you will do

  •  Analyze and execute testing and record test case results
  • Troubleshoot Transport and IP related issues
  • Integrate 3rd party platforms (Juniper and Extreme switches for example) into Ericsson’s Core and Transport solutions
  • Perform lab and field configuration related to Transport and Core deployment
  • Prepare and present progress reports
  • Drive and participate in knowledge sharing activities
  • Lead test activities and mentor new team members
  • Collect and document customer requirements
  • Assist in the development of a service proposal
  • Identify add-on sales opportunities


You will bring

  • Bachelor or master’s degree, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
  • 4+ years of proven experience in Telecom Industry, ideally in the Transport Domain
  • Knowledge of Transport and IP technologies (Router, switches, firewalls)
  • Background in communications theory and digital signal processing
  • Good command of MS Office, especially MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Coding and scripting skills

This role will report directly to the Network Engineering Manager II
