Our Exciting Opportunity

 

Ericsson Research Cloud Systems and Platforms is looking for a researcher to strengthen our team working with cloud and application infrastructure. Current activities in the area include studying and developing prototypes for cloud native applications with high requirements on reliability and availability, as well as more general distributed systems across device, edge and cloud, where applications can have varying requirements on scalability, resilience, and performance.

 

 

Our research area is present in five countries across three continents, and there will be many opportunities to collaborate with research teams from around the world. From prototyping solutions for identified future business needs to investigating the ramifications of future computing concepts, you will work with researchers and product development teams at Ericsson, with academic institutions, as well as researchers and engineers from other industries.

Our work involves providing expertise, offering insights, and innovating, with the potential to impact Ericsson business and products, to prepare for, and enable, the journey to 5G and beyond!

This position is based in Lund, Sweden.

 

Activities:

 

  • Join researchers and specialists from research, product development, and academia, working together on topics in cloud and edge cloud.
  • Help define areas of future research, contributing to the Ericsson technology strategy
  • Investigate novel concepts and algorithms, and implement prototypes to verify that they translate well into real-world applications.
  • Communicate results and ideas in internal and external fora, in written reports, demonstrations, and presentations.
  • Supervise and mentor other researchers and students

 

To be successful in the role you must have

 

  • an MSc or equivalent, a PhD, or a Licentiate degree, in an area related to computer science, networking, and/or cloud computing
  • analytical thinking combined with a healthy dose of creativity
  • the ability to express and demonstrate ideas, to acquire and apply new knowledge, and to communicate this to others
  • experience with programming and software development
  • skill in formulating and solving problems, sometimes independently, often in collaboration with others
  • good communication skills in written and spoken English
