Final Assembly Supervisor

About this opportunity

To scale our operations and meet the demands of our customers, the Ericsson US 5G Smart Factory is looking to hire a Final Assembly (FA) Supervisor to help lead production as we build some of the most sophisticated radios and basebands on the planet. This is the equipment that makes the 5G connection on your phone possible.

Crucial aspects of this role will be to lead daily manufacturing operations, coach and motivate teams, and communicate effectively to help drive production and meet goals. The ideal candidate for this role must have a demonstrated record of accomplishment leading teams, directing workflow, improving processes, and preventing disruption of production. They must be capable and confident in facilitating interdepartmental collaboration and ensuring goals for quality and throughput are achieved daily. They must also promote a strong safety culture and encourage speak up environment where team members are able to provide ideas and feedback. The chosen candidate must be comfortable with both high-volume production and new product introduction.

This is a night shift role. Shifts will be 7pm to 7am on a 3- to 4-day swing shift.

What you will do

Drive Production

  • Coordinate with Final Assembly Area Manager and Production Planning to establish daily targets needed to meet customer demand
  • Monitor productivity, daily workflow, accuracy, and error rates in all Final Assembly Operations
  • Ensure operator adherence to working times, quality standards, and work instructions for both assembly- and test-related operations
  • Initiate daily production in collaboration with Team Leads and Managers including actions such as dispatching production orders systematically, printing labels, and ordering components
  • Ensure accurate end-of-shift report has been created for Production Management and Factory Leadership Team
  • Deliver clear, transparent, and engaging readout of production status on daily production meetings
  • Communicate cross-functionally and raise issues through proper channels including with leaders throughout Production, Warehouse, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality
  • Drive adherence to 5S programs to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient workplace

Create and Implement Improvement Initiatives

  • Provide information to management team to help improve safety, increase equipment efficiency, working conditions, employee productivity and motivation
  • Organize and run multiple department initiatives simultaneously
  • Effectively connect with senior management regarding interdepartmental needs, challenges, and requirements to prevent operational disruptions
  • Provide feedback to software developers working on shop floor automation projects
  • Ensure readiness for both internal and external audits

Perform People Management Functions

  • Ensure compliance with and actively seek to resolve any employee concerns while adhering to the company policies and standards
  • Develop and provide feedback to operators on a continuous basis, through one-on-one meetings and the formal talent management process
  • Work closely with People Business Partners on performance improvements plans and corrective actions as necessary
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring process for operators
  • Work with technical trainer coordinating training plans and identifying training gaps for Final Assembly Operators
  • Ensure accurate and timely time reporting and time off approvals

Promote Safety

  • Encourage safe working practices and enforce safety procedures and use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Identify and raise safety issues and report any incidents to Area Managers in a timely manner
  • Function as point person during emergency events
  • Understand vital processes for handling workplace injury on factory floor
  • Promote, understand, and strictly adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality guidelines without deviation.

You will bring

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Solid understanding of standard intra-departmental functions and daily manufacturing operations
  • Solid understanding of and methods to apply and sustain 5S within a production environment
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and constantly evolving work environment
  • Effective leadership, coaching, and collaboration skills
  • Positive conflict resolution and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving, creative decision making, and time management abilities
  • Experience promoting safety throughout the workplace

Ideal Qualifications

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Experience using advanced software in a production environment
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing operations management
  • Understanding of methods to reduce waste and how to execute non-conforming material processes
  • Proactive spirit; fast learner
  • Willingness to learn and share knowledge throughout the organization
