System Manager for Local Packet Gateway - Packet Core

Posted date:  Mar 9, 2023
Location:

About this opportunity

We are creating a new product called Ericsson Local Packet Gateway (LPG) by bundling together a single server CaaS platform and the Ericsson Packet Core Gateway (PCG) to fulfill various edge networking use cases. PCG is a cloud-native user plane traffic processing and gateway function for dual-mode 5G Core. PCG is designed to be extremely scalable. It consists of various microservices, which can run on any Container-as-a-Service (CaaS) environment based on Kubernetes.

For the first few releases, we're building a basic CaaS platform, which will evolve into a more complex platform lifecycle management solution.

Ericsson LPG will fulfill various edge networking use cases:

  • Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communication (e.g.: remote control for robots, operator-assisted self-driving cars)
  • Secure traffic (e.g.: traffic must not leave the enterprise's network)
  • Mobile broadband (e.g.: wireless software upgrade of equipment at a factory)

An important step in our development process is to analyze new features, set the system design, and document this in feature studies and requirements. We call this system management. You will work closely together with both your colleague system managers as well as the teams implementing the features you design. You will also be working in close cooperation with e.g. System Architects and Product Owners, managing requirements and influencing future evolvement in the area. Important parts of the job are to be able to focus on priorities, communicate, inspire, and be active in studies needed to drive the area toward the product vision.

As a system manager, you will learn to master groundbreaking technology in IP networks, and distributed real-time embedded systems!

Our products are designed with a #container-based #micro-service architecture, taking advantage of #cloud native technologies and tools to develop our #5G products.

What you will do

  • Manage strategic technical leadership within the area
  • Build and manage requirements and take ownership of selected system artifacts
  • Conduct system studies and manage compliance with standards as well as provide recommendations for standardization work
  • Work with the feature roadmap, studies of new features, and bring new technologies into the products
  • Support Q&A activities and pre-sales support within the competence area
  • Work together with development teams to handle backlog refinement, feature studies, and splitting large packages into workable items

You will bring

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree or higher education in a technical field related to Computer Science
  • Experience in software development
  • An innovative and creative approach paired with the ability to adapt and respond to change
  • Interest and pride in understanding the whole product and its environment and passion for learning and sharing information with team members
  • Passion and love to continue developing your knowledge by working at the forefront of new technologies
  • Excellent communication skills, paired with proficiency in spoken and written English
