Our Exciting Opportunity

We are a worldwide large enterprise looking for an experienced DevOps engineer, who can identify and solve complicated problems requiring careful analysis by creating, using or adapting procedures, techniques and methods. The candidate shall be motivated, quick learner, autonomous and interested to continuously improve, also have experience and interest in mentoring and supporting a team.

You will be part of a large team across multiple time zones, supporting critical application services to manage binaries, use by Ericsson R&D. You will be directly involved in all phases of DevOps i.e. development up to and including deployment to production (requirements analysis, design, implementation, test, deployment, troubleshooting), as well as doing daily operations/administration tasks and supporting end users, including advanced usage. In addition, you will act as a mentor supporting part of the team(European and to some extent India time zone).

The scope is at application level, however a solid knowledge of the underlying IT infrastructure (network, storage, virtualization) is required in order to support troubleshooting and works with the relevant infrastructure services.

The work is in Budapest, Hungary, and you will be part of a global team with members in various countries.

You will

  • Be part of development/automation/testing/deployment of the service (packaging, optimization of the solution, automated deployment, test automation, monitoring & analytics, HA, cluster, Cloud…) and integration to a large-scale IT environment.
  • Do application administration, monitoring, troubleshooting (including JVM level).
  • Be responsible for application support (1st to 3rd line, usage and technical). This includes advanced usage of various package managers supported by the application.
  • Mentoring and supporting a subset of the service team
  • Be active in internal community

To be successful in the role you must have

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science

10 years + of relevant experience in the below areas:

  • Software package managers (e.g. rpm, war, docker, npm, …)
  • Linux and Java application operation, troubleshooting and support
  • IT infrastructure (network, storage, virtualization)
  • SQL and basic level of database management/DBA (MySQL, Postgres)
  • Automation and scripting
  • Web Services (REST/SOAP)
  • Experience managing and mentoring teams
  • Great teammate and problem solver with a high level of self-motivation and initiative
  • Superb communication skills in English, both verbal and written

Highly desirable but not mandatory

  • Binary management systems (Artifactory, Nexus) and continuous integration tools such as Jenkins
  • Automated deployment frameworks (e.g. Ansible)
  • Networking configuration and load balancing
  • Monitoring frameworks (Prometheus, Grafana, …)
  • Docker
  • Agile development methodology (Scrum, Scaled agile, Kanban).
