This role is a key delivery position responsible for the Technology Video Head-End & Media Delivery implementation of Entertainment Products & Services across LG’s 12 EU countries. This role is a key technical position in the Technology group that is responsible for the Video Head-End technology and service implementation of Products & Services across all Go To Market teams and therefore should ensure synergies in our overall delivery and operating model by working closely with peers within Technology and across the wider Technology & Innovation group.

 

This role is pivotal in bringing together services at the design activity level, including drawing in IT, Core, and other Technology groups such that we build a compelling and differentiated service across the entire customer journey, not just the core product functionality, with built-in quality, robustness and operational excellence instrumentation and operating model design. IT must focus on achieving wider Technology objectives around scale, cost efficiency, speed to market and quality.

 

The role will contribute to implementing entertainment Media Delivery Platform and Content Protection components through their technology delivery and operations lifecycle ensuring timely delivery of technically ready products and services that can be taken to market in countries across Liberty Global's footprint.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Designs and implement of CDN architectures
  • Performs vendor selection, due diligence and research
  • Performs configurations and implementation of CDN environments
  • Perform integration of Media streaming within the CDN
  • Supports capacity and planning modelling against requirements
  • Works as CDN component owner with all Video and Media delivery systems owners
  • Write and manage test cases towards release management
  • Actively participate and coordinate tests to verify new platform functionality
  • Assist affiliates in setting up operational procedures to run/implement new functionality
  • Provides knowledge transfer
  • Provides handover documentation

 

Knowledge & Experience:

 

  • MSc degree level in a relevant area (network-, communications- or consumer electronics engineering)
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Expert (2+ years) full understanding and working in an operational CDN networking and Media Streaming environment this includes:
  • Setup
  • Design
  • Fault finding
  • testing
  • Expert knowledge of CDN technologies and next generation CDN technologies
  • Expert (2+ years) full understanding of IP and broadcast networking as well as data center infrastructure.
  • Expert (2+ years) full understanding of internet protocols like HTTP, HTPP/2, RTP, RTCP, RTSP, RTMP, UDP, ARP, ICMP,
  • Experience in Media Delivery Platform & Content Protection implementation of B2C video services
  • Experience with working in an international and distributed team environment
  • Experience in technical delivery management
  • Understanding of entertainment technology & ecosystem from Video Head-End (DVB technologies) & Media Delivery Platforms, and Apps (IOS, Android, HTML5)
  • Familiarity of the technologies and platforms specific to a large cable and telecommunications operator.
  • Familiarity around Video CAS, DRM, Video back-ends, workflows, CMS, security services, Application Services, CDN, Ad Insertion, broadband data, home networking, TV, VoD, cDVR.
  • Familiarity with Audio and Video coding/decoding technologies
  • Familiarity with related IT systems (OSS & BSS)
